Turkcell announced a partnership agreement with Lynk, a leading satellite communication company, aiming to provide mobile services via satellites. At the Mobile World Congress (MWC), the world’s largest mobile technology event held in Barcelona, Turkcell revealed plans to collaborate with Lynk on trials for delivering SMS, voice, and data services directly to phones via satellites.

Continuing its leadership in digitization and technology, Turkcell signed a partnership agreement with Lynk, aiming to provide mobile services via satellites, as part of its strategy to establish standards for next-generation technologies, closely monitor and test them. During the collaboration announced at MWC24 in Barcelona, Turkcell aims to test SMS, voice, and data services directly to phones in collaboration with Lynk.

Dr. Ali Taha Koç, CEO of Turkcell, stated:

“We are taking our leadership in technology to a new level. NTN (Non-Terrestrial Network) solutions, which aim to complement existing mobile networks in rural areas where terrestrial networks cannot be established or access is limited, are gaining importance worldwide.

Thanks to constantly evolving satellite technologies, we are exploring opportunities for collaboration with NTN companies to provide services to customers in terrestrial areas where mobile coverage is not available, including remote areas and open seas, and thus, we are testing services that we aim to provide more seamlessly to every corner of the geography.

Continuing our leadership in bringing next-generation technologies to our country, we continue our efforts to provide mobile services via satellites, as in many other areas of technology.

With the aim of being able to offer satellite-based NTN services to individual and corporate customers in the coming years, we aim to add new partnerships to those we have signed. Not only do we collaborate internationally in this field, but we also continue our agreements with domestic companies and pursue R&D studies focused on 5G advanced (5.5G) and 6G.

With our other collaborations to be made within the scope of MWC, we will add innovative and strong steps to the goal of making the Digital Century the Century of Turkey.”
